Pretty Place was founded by Leslie Peters, photographer, old house restorer and mother.  Her search for beauty in everyday objects guides her photography.  One cloudy morning it led to the Menlo Park, California farmer's market where inspiration struck for the Pretty Place line of placemats.

Leslie takes her pictures using a hand-held Pentax ZX-M (35-mm) camera and Fuji slide film.  She tries to be natural and unobtrusive in her photography -- no tripod, no rearranging the produce, and minimal manipulation of the images during the production process.  This mobility lets her use the viewfinder to discover striking compositions and arresting patterns in her surroundings.
